About UsWho is on board already?Rochester-area leaders have been interested in the issue of freight and passenger rail service for many years. In September 2008, Rochester-area leaders formalized this support by establishing an alliance to support high-speed passenger rail service through Rochester. The founding members of the Southeast Minnesota Rail Alliance are the City of Rochester, Olmsted County, Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce and Mayo Clinic. Since then, there have been hundreds of individuals and several additional organizations that have added their support. The Alliance's efforts also are supported by area legislators and federal office-holders. Many of these same groups have worked to ensure freight rail service doesn't put residents or Mayo Clinic patients at undo risk. The result of those efforts is the proposed Southern Rail Corridor to take freight traffic around Rochester.
